Oil spiked a bit as soon as the news of an Iranian warship and a supply vessell crossing the Suez canal hit the wires. The ships will be enroute to Syria and are being seen as a provocation in the region.
The ships are said to be on a year long training mission for Iranian naval cadets to learn how to protect cargo shipments from somali pirates. The ships will dock with Syria for a said amount of time. Israel questions the necessity for Iran to have these ships in the mediterranean sea, and has said that they can not keep overlooking the provocations from Iran, even though the rest of the world does.
Gold had a slight rise and now sits at $1374/oz., and may continue the climb with more and more unrest in the middle eastern region. Protests have started in Libya, continue in Yemen and Iran with the government calling for the death of opposition leaders.
